The winner of Round 3 of the Shadow And Act Digital Filmmaker Showcase is Faith and Dreams directed by Will Raee.
The film explores the brutal recruitment of child soldiers by the Lord’s Resistance Army in Uganda. Interestingly enough, there's a 30-minute documentary on the same subject that's gone viral across the web today; that film spreads the word about Ugandan Lord's Resistance Army leader Joseph Kony and his brutal practice of forcing young children into war.
Similar to Round 2, the top 5 films from Round 3 were competing for the first time and accounted for over 80% of the total votes.
Rounding out the top 4 were TRAINerr (Andrew Hannibal), Corrective Rape (Joel Edwards) and Mr. Graham (Julius Amedume).
We logged over 4,000 votes and served up 20,000 video streams during Round 3. Judging from the increase in video streams and the quantity of bandwidth used, the Showcase is fast becoming a great platform for filmmakers to gain national exposure for their work and for fans to discover new work about people of color.
As we wind down this inaugural season, we hope to announce new distribution initiatives that will expand our footprint even more.
