The project will center on a diverse group of detectives in a New York City precinct.
Samberg will play the lead detective, while Terry Crews will play a character named Terry Jeffords, described as "the no-nonsense but father-like sergeant who runs the detective squad."
Braugher will play Captain Holt, described as a 30-year veteran of the New York City police force. Holt has finally gotten his own command and he’s not going to let anyone, especially Samberg’s character, mess it up.
Braugher was last seen as a seried regular on the small screen in ABC’s cancelled Last Resort, after 1 season.

I'm convinced that Andre Braugher will outlive television itself.

Braugher has to be the hardest working, most talented tv actor with the most failed projects. He is such a talent. At this point, the networks just need to cut a 7 or 8 figure production deal with him to allow him to create his own vehicle. Maybe if he creates his own work it will be a hit. That's too much like right, though.

Seriously, an angry police captain role? I could be jumping the gun, and they could be writing a nuanced or stereotype busting character here, but it sounds like a complete waste of Braugher. I'm a fan of his, Crews', and Samberg's, but...I have such doubt! I'll check it out.
