Just over a week ago, Gabourey Sidibe joined the cast of season 3 of FX's series American Horror Story, titled American Horror Story: Coven

We can now officially add Angela Bassett to the cast, as well as veteran stage star Patti LuPone, per the above tweet from series creator Shawn Ryan.

The actresses join a cast that includes Jessica LangeEvan Peters, Sarah PaulsonTaissa Farmiga, Frances Conroy and Lily Rabe.

Quite an impressive overall cast! Although I never quite got into the series; not because I didn't like it. There's just so much else competing for my attention. But with the addition of Sidibe and Bassett, I think I'll catch up before the next season arrives.

No details yet on what each new cast addition will play in the horror TV series, however.

The last time Bassett appeared as a series regular on any TV show was during the final season (2008–2009) of the once hit medical drama ER on NBC.

I was hooked after the first season. I love this show.

I’m excited with this new star-studded cast on American Horror Story: Coven. I think this new season is going to be pretty spooky so I can’t wait to watch. I’ll be on the way home from work at DISH when it airs, but won’t be missing it. I’m going to watch on my iPad with the DISH Anywhere app during the train ride home. Because of this I can watch my favorite live and recorded shows while I’m on the go.

I'm all in for Ms. Bassett, as long as it doesn't get too scary/freaky like the first season of AHS. I thought she was supposed to be playing a role as a scientist on a drama this season, though.

    Looking forward to seeing Angela.

Each season is standalone so you dont really need to catch up to watch the next season, but glad to see they are injecting some color in the cast!!!

The AHS creator is "Ryan Murphy" not "Shawn Ryan". You must have Beverly Hills Cop on your mind. Shawn Ryan was EP'ing that.

AHS is one demented show but I love it. All three seasons are not the same, so I'm curious to see where this goes. They also haven't had recurring black characters, so this should also be interesting.

I've never seen the show, but I love Ms. Bassett. I hope they don't have her doing anything too crazy....those trailers have been twisted. I understand the type of show this is, but still......
