He's been nominated twice for a Film Independent Spirit Award, but next week actor Anthony Mackie will be sharing the duty of announcing the nominees.

Along with actress Kate Beckinsale (Underworld), the duo will make the announcements Nov. 29 at the London West Hollywood Hotel.  The 27th Film Independent Spirit Awards take place on Feb. 25 in Santa Monica, Calif. and will be broadcast later that evening on the IFC network.

The awards highlight the best indie films, usually American, produced for under $20 million.

Mackie received his first nomination back in 2004 for Brother To Brother.  Then, in 2009, his second nomination occured for The Hurt Locker

His latest flick, Man On A Ledge, will hit theaters January 27, 2012 and he recently explained what the film is about saying..."Man on a Ledge is with Sam Worthington and is basically, there’s this guy trying to prove his innocence and he goes out on a ledge of a hotel to get the attention of the press and everyone, so he can prove he’s innocent. He has a girlfriend and a black friend and he has a brother with a girlfriend, who is so hot, and we all try to help him free his name and get him off the ledge."

It's interesting how he describes his role in Man on a Ledge as "the black friend."

He needs an appointment with a dentist as soon as possible, he just can walk around with yellow teeth.
