The previous character poster we published was a fake, so it was pulled. Here's the official one, coming directly from Marvel this time, so we know it's the real deal.

A quick recap... Anthony Mackie is playing Falcon, alongside Chris Evans, in the sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger (titled Winter Soldier), which is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo.

Stan Lee introduced Falcon in Captain America #117 (September 1969),calling him "the first African American superhero."

The character, Sam Wilson, is Harlem-based and had many street adventures with Cap in the 1970s comics, when he served as his partner. In current comics, Falcon is a key player in many of Cap's espionage adventures.

His superhero abilities include: an empathic link with his pet falcon, has the ability to see through the eyes of nearby birds, can fly, is skilled in martial artist, and is a gymnast.

Winter Soldier will center heavily on the resurrection of Bucky Barnes, played in Captain America: The First Avenger by Sebastian Stan.

Mackie is certainly excited about the opportunity to play Falcon, and as noted in an interview he did with, when he shared that he was taking it all very seriously, because "he considers The Falcon to be an iconic role as Marvel's first real African American superhero."

By the way, Samuel L. Jackson is in this as well, reprising his role as Nick Fury.

Captain America: Winter Soldier opens April 4, 2014.

Check out the full poster below. You'll find the trailer underneath, if you haven't yet seen it:

I'm trying my best to get into this.

Cover him up... put a bigger mask on his face, this looks too much like Anthony Mackie and I just can't do it.

Check this, in my hand I am holding a 1976 edition of Captain America. Two images of The Falcon are on the front cover... in one he appears to be flying... in the other he's standing as if ready to ponce on his prey. This guy looks like he could actually wreak havoc upon a son-of-a-buck. But the above picture looks like Anthony Mackie in Cool-Rays... not a tough guy by any stretch of imagination. Don't get me wrong, I can suspend reality with the best movie watchers, but Anthony Mackie has a hard time playing your basic tough black guy, let alone a super hero figure.

I'm telling you, this Falcon in the comic book looks menacing. In fact, in one scene he's holding the shirt of a crook who's trying to flee with his bounty... he tells the guy "Let go easy, mister! or I'll drop you hard!! DO IT!! DO IT!!". The guy responds "Okay! Okay!--I know when I've had it!"

Now if that was Anthony Mackie grabbing that guy while wearing those surplus military pants, the guy probably would have laughed and said.. "Hey, ain't you the clown who tried to play like he was a tuff 2-Pac in that movie "Notorious"? Shiiiiit, you can't even act like you're a black guy from the hood... so get your tiny hands off me before I smash your ass **KRAK!!!**"

I'm just sayin'...Anthony is no Falcon... and btw, the Falcon's costume was red & white... white boots, red outfit and a full-face white mask, not that ghetto getup he has on. Geez, I'm all for diversity casting and brothas working and all that, but this casting is as ridiculous as Terence Howard, Kevin Hart and Michael Ealy replacing Jim Brown, Fred Williamson and the late great martial arts legend Jim Kelly, in the Blaxploitation film Three The Hard Way. Okay, I stole that line from Sergio but I'm just saying, cover him up... put a bigger mask on his face, this Falcon looks too much like Anthony Mackie and I just can't do it.

Reminds me of Will Smith in that homeless superhero thing he did...

Mackie looks sharp in this poster. I hope this gives him more power in making interesting indie films.
