This morning, TNT and TBS revealed their rather extensive development plans for a plethora of original scripted and unscripted programming, enlisting the creative minds of some of the industry's top talents, both in front of, and behind the camera.

One of those titles in development that caught my eye is an hour-long scripted detective series titled The Command , which Antoine Fuqua is listed as the director and executive producer for. He'll likely only direct the pilot episode, and if the series does get picked up, he'll put on his producer hat, and put other directors to work.

The Command is said to center on an elite squad of hand-picked detectives within the New York City police department called the Borough Command, who are assigned only the toughest, highest-profile and most-unsolvable cases. "The best detectives, the hardest cases," it reads.

As the series is still in development, not much else is available about it. So, we can only wait and see what (if anything) develops here. But, from the little that's here, it all certainly sounds like Fuqua's professional milieu.

... so stay tuned...

@Lynn-Why Beals? BECAUSE...we just saw her yesterday...and THAT ladies & gentleman is how casting goes "Who did we just see? Oh, ok, cast them & let's move on". :-(

Fuqua is one of the few directors out there who makes movies for MEN. Not stupid mind you, but movies where the male roles are MEN, not overly groomed man-children who can hit a high note. You're gonna get men handling business, kickin' ass & takin' names, all with a little bit of pathos. Not many of them anymore. Only thing to put him over the top is the stories need juuuust a bit more attention to complexity.

But GOOD to see that Fuqua is making his way on TV as well, because that is where all film quality, both in front of & behind the camera, is going (already there really).

I would be more impressed if it was on FX or even better HBO or Showtime. TNT seems to take the light road when it comes to dramas. I wacthed that 'Blue' show with that cat from 'The Practice' and Omari Hardwick and it was SO watered down. I'm like pass.

"The best detectives, the hardest cases,” sounds like copywriter bullsh*t.

    @ tue

Why Jennifer Beals?? There are so many other actors/actresses out there. Besides, he is probably going to direct a few episodes.
