Sunshine on Leith

British actress Antonia Thomas will co-star in the film adaptation of the musical Sunshine On Leith, which is inspired by, and features the music of Scottish duo The Proclaimers' album of the same name.

Filming began in Edinburgh and Glasgow, Scotland earlier this month.

The project, co-produced by DNA Films and Black Camel Pictures, is being led by director Dexter Fletcher (Wild Bill)Stephen Greenhorn, the man behind the musical, also adapted the film's script.

Sunshine On Leith tells the story of two army veterans returning home from war in Afghanistan; one finds his soul mate, while the other loses the girl he left behind.

The film's name is taken from The Proclaimers' second album.

Also starring with Thomas will be Peter Mullan, Jane Horrocks, George McKay, Kevin Guthrie, and Freya Mavor.

Thomas is best known for her role as Alisha on TV's Misfits, and most recently starred in ITV's military drama, Homefront.

Sunshine on Leith is my selected song for my funeral! Hope it will be long time before that's played! I originally come from Edinburgh and even saw the boys in the supermarket in Morningside, Edinburgh occasionally. I think they wrote a song based on me... Dark hair, green eyes....
All our children - 6 of them, love the boys music, even tho' they've never set foot in Scotland. Can't wait for my film to be released, I'll be first in the queue!!! Well done lads x

This woman is making moves. She's doing the most from the Misfits bunch.
