Fast Five hasn't even been released yet, but Universal has already hired a screenwriter, Chris Morgan, to pen the screenplay for Fast Six (he also wrote the screenplays for the 3rd, 4th and 5th installments of the franchise).

No word yet on what the plot will be; but I'm sure it'll involve fast cars, women, and lots of action :)

Collectively, the first 4 films grossed almost $500 million domestically, and close to $1 billion cumulative worldwide; so, it's obvious why the studio continues to crank them out. Although, I should note that each successive installment has grossed less than its predecessor.

Fast Five will be in theatres this Friday, the 29th. From all I've seen thus far, it's not a movie I'll be rushing out to see; I saw the first 2, and they were more than enough for me. Maybe I'll catch it when it hits Netflix's streaming library.

This series has serious staying power. I only saw the first one and thought it was average at best, but if you look at the box office grosses, the most recent movie Fast 4 (2009) had the largest domestic box office gross.

    2009----Fast and Furious $155,064,265
2001----The Fast and the Furious $144,533,925
    2003-----2 Fast 2 Furious $127,154,901
2006------The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift $62,514,415

I thought the franchise was on its last legs myself, but numbers do not lie. Plus the movie has grossed $24 million worldwide already. The largest worldwide opening of any of the Fast movies to date. It hasn't even opened here yet. I predict and opening weekend domestic gross of $70 million + and a final cume of $170.

This is the first "Fast and The Furious" movie to get a fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, so I might see it, it got good reviews surprisingly.

Fast Six Really?! If they're planning to keep this franchise going, they need to start a transition by introducing some young blood. I saw the trailer for Fast Five and on the big screen Paul Walker and Vin Diesel looked so tired. The "give me my check so I can go home" look was written all over their faces.
