If I was calling the shots, Audra McDonald would be starring in Scandal right now over Kerry Washington. I'm not trying to start any trouble, nor do I have any issue with Kerry Washington. It's just an observation...

But, as the Scandalistas would probably say, I'm obviously not calling the shots, so my opinion means nada, right?

Anyway, I'm always glad to see Audra working! Glad to see Kerry working too.

Ms McDonald has now landed a co-starring role on CBS' drama pilot The Ordained, which revolves around Tom (Charlie Cox), the son of a Kennedy-esque family who leaves the priesthood and becomes a lawyer to prevent his politician sister from being assassinated.

Audra will play a character named Anthea, described as a senior litigator at the law firm where Tom works, as well as his mentor, boss and ally, who runs Iron Man races to unwind, and lives to win cases.

RJ Cutler will helm the pilot.

Assuming The Ordained goes to series, it'll mark McDonald's return to serial TV since her run on Shonda Rhimes' Private Practice.

I think Audra's amazing on stage, but has yet to translate onscreen; she's pretty dry and kind of flat. However, I think a role as a litigator is more her speed than the emotional/romantic roller coaster of a Shonda Rhimes project. We'll see what happens.

A pretty lil soft thing is what I'm looking for when I watch Scandal, Audra could not pull off what Kerry W. is pulling off because Audra's features appear hard (don't get me wrong she's pretty) but she probably wouldn't get away with half the crap Olivia's getting away with and still be likable by certain audiences.

Tambay it wasn't meant to be so let it go mentally and stop acting like a high school girl in the restroom during recess saying bad things about Kerry cause her best friend Audra didn't win the Homecoming Queen Contest.

I've only watched a few episodes of Scandal (hate the dialogue style), but Audra as Olivia would have probably made me watch more and i agree she would add more depth to the character. I don't dislike Kerry, but she just seems like a pretty little girl playing grown up boss lady in Scandal. I am very happy that the show is doing so well though.

I've been saying this from day one! Audra as Olivia Pope would be amazing! Audra has a quiet intensity like nobody's business. Hopefully they'll pick it up.

Tambay, I am genuinely curious. Why Audra as Olivia Pope as opposed to Kerry as Olivia Pope?
