Titled Al Shearer - The Other Black Guy Running For President, this Borat-style feature mockumentary from actor Al Shearer takes his faux presidential campaign to the streets, utilizing a dead-pan, realistic approach in the presentation of the material.
Al interviews citizens, lashes out at corporations, pressures politicians, and after attempting to get on the ballot, takes his campaign to the Iowa straw poll, where he gets up close and personal with the likes of Rick Santorum, Herman Cain and Michelle Bachman.
From one early review:
As subversively cynical as any hipster, this is a fine example of comedy being about telling your audience what they want to hear. A fine effort for multi culti times, Shearer’s street cat trying to play it straight is a winner, and he takes as many real blows against the empire as any committed hippie did two generations back. If you really hate politicians and miss Jib Jab, this is clearly the missing métier in your sandwich. Well done.
The film will be released exclusively on iTunes this Friday, June 15th.
I'll be getting a screener of it shortly, and will share my thoughts afterward.
In the meantime... to whet your appetite, check out these 2 exclusive clips from the mockumentary - the first titled Hanging with the Tea Party, and the second Hotties For Al Shearer:
