Because she's Sidney Poitier's daughter who acts sometimes. Not trying to be negative, but I can't believe they fixed their mouths to say all those glowing words. Nothing against her personally, but Sydney is not a good actress. At all. I shouldn't be this taken aback, but I am.

Pretty much thinking the same thing. I've seen her in an indie movie w/ Wayne Brady --- annnd that's about it

I've seen her in about 3 films, and it would be generous to call each performance wooden and monotone.

Congrats to Sydney! What a talented family. Her sister, Anika, is no slouch either. She's a filmmaker on the rise. I loved her short entitled 'Black Irish". I saw it a few months ago at a special event that AFI hosted back in May or June 2012. It was unique and refreshing for a change. I look forward to seeing more work from these two beautiful women...following in the steps of their proud papa!
