Beasts of the Southern Wild director, and New Orleans resident Benh Zeitlin tells the AP that he's already begun work on his follow-up to that critically-acclaimed, polarizing film (his feature film debut), which will likely also be set in New Orleans, where Zeitlin's Court 13 film production calls home.

Further, Zeitlin says that he plans on using the same production team he used on Beasts, AND he hopes to, once again, cast Dwight Henry and Quvenzhané Wallis, both who made their acting debuts in Beast Of The Southern Wild, in that film's lead father and daughter roles.

The untitled project, Zeitlin says, is about, as the AP notes, a hidden ecosystem where the aging process is out of whack.

Zeitlin adds:

It's a place where aging operates like a variable, where people can age rapidly or very slowly.

Considering what I saw in Beast Of The Southern Wild, sign me up for whatever this is that he's now working on now - especially with Henry and Wallis in the cast.

He doesn't give anything more away, so we'll just have to be satisfied with this for now. But I'm already intrigued by the premise.

Both Henry and Wallis will next be seen in Steve McQueen's Twelve Years A Slave next year.

Filming will begin next fall, he said.

The AP interview happened as Zeitlin was being awarded the New Orleans Film Society's "Celluloid Hero" honor.
