I'm sure there's no need for an intro to this anymore, since it's been written about so much.

Being Mary Jane, the pilot movie, debuts on BET, on TuesdayJuly 2nd at 10:30pm ET/PT.

Being Mary Jane the TV series is slated to premiere in early 2014 on BET.

Gabrielle Union stars as the title character, with Omari HardwickRichard RoundtreeMargaret AveryLisa VidalRichard BrooksTika SumpterRaven GoodwinB.J. BrittAaron SpearsLatarsha RoseStephen Bishop and Robinne Lee, rounding out the cast.

Here's the latest trailer which feels a bit more somber and solemn to me than what we've seen thus far:

I think what this trailer proves without a shadow of a doubt is that comedy is clearly more difficult to execute than drama.

Perhaps, I'm not sure if difficult is the appropriate word - I was thinking more along the lines of comedy can be more specific when it comes to taste, but well executed drama can be universal. I will say this is the first trailer I've seen for this show that actually made me want to tune in.
