The sixth annual BET Honors special, hosted by Gabrielle Union, which was broadcast on Monday night, and will be repeated a few more times this week and next, did very well for the network.

The special, which honored Halle Berry, T.D. Jakes, Chaka Khan, music executive Clarence Avant, and WNBA player Lisa Leslie, was watched by 2 million viewers, according the Nielsen Company, which is an increase from last year, and earned BET "triple digit time-slot gains," compared to what the network's ratings during the last few weeks.

The special is, so far, the No.1 most watched cable special (but the year is still young, of course), and, as an extra added bonus, according to BET, was the No 1 trending topic worldwide on Twitter for the night.

Great honorees this year! It was inspiring to watch. I was aware of the resumes of Chaka Khan, Lisa Leslie & Halle Berry but had no idea of their great service to their communities! I was impressed to be informed of all that they do outside of all the glitz and glam of their world-renowned careers.
