BET plans to reboot Showtime At the Apollo!

A deal is reportedly being worked out that will see pilot air on the network for the long-running variety show (which ended its 21-year run in 2008) revived with Jamie Foxx executive producing; the goal being to eventually run it as a prime-time series on the cable network.

The show's original director Don Weiner will also serve as producer.

No word on whether this reboot will retain the show's old format, or if it'll be revamped as well.

Who's excited? :)

Well SATA was American Idol before American Idol, here's betting they add some judges, but I hope the IN HOUSE audiience is the final decider. No phone in or text votes please. Please keep the CORE of what made SATA SATA they New York audience!

Also PLEASE no Jamie Foxx. Nice chap and all, but how low would he be devaluing his brand by hosting this show. There are a TON of black comedians that could use the break of a high profile gig like this.
