'Mother of George'

Both films opened over the weekend, both in new York City, both playing in one theater, so box office totals for each weren't exactly earth-shattering; but, their per screen averages were strong.

In fact, Andrew Dosunmu's Mother of George, released by Oscilloscope, had the highest per screen average of any film in release over the weekend, at $22,500. In comparison, the number 1 film in terms of gross, Insidious Chapter 2, earned a per screen average of $13,463.

And Blue Caprice, released by Sundance Selects, wasn't that far behind, in the top 5 per screen averages, with $15,200.

By the way, after 2 weeks, Winnie Mandela, the Jennifer Hudson biopic on the life of Winnie Mandela, has grossed over $80,000 at the box office.
