3 films we've covered quite a lot here on S&A received nominations for this year's British Independent Film Awards: Steve McQueen's Shame (7 nominations, including Best British Independent Film, Best Director (Steve McQueen), Best Actor (Michael Fassbender), Best Supporting Actress (Carey Mulligan), Best Screenplay (Abi Morgan, Steve McQueen) & Best Technical Achievement (Joe Walker – Editing & Sean Bobbitt – Cinematography); Richard Ayoade's Submarine (5 nominations including Douglas Hickox Award for Best Debut Director, Best Screenplay (Richard Ayoade), Best Supporting Actress (Sally Hawkins) & Most Promising Newcomer (Yasmin Paige & Craig Roberts)); and Joe Cornish's Attack The Block (2 including Most Promising Newcomer (John Boyega), and the Douglas Hickox Award for Best Debut Director (Joe Cornish)).
