The Abu Dhabi Film Festival has announced the call for applications for the Festival’s SANAD grant (a Development and Post-Production Fund - a key element of the festival) which aims to support filmmakers from the Arab world, which includes the following African countries: Algeria, Djibouti, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Somalia, Sudan, and Tunisia.
SANAD will award up to $500,000 in grants for development and post-production.
New and established filmmakers are welcome to apply, with the goal being to support established and aspiring Arab filmmakers, and assist them in gaining access to global audiences.
In terms of the application period and deadlines, there are two open calls each year.
- The first session will be open from today until February 28, 2014.
- The second session will be open from June 1 until July 15, 2014.
In the past 4 years SANAD has received applications from more than 500 projects and has supported dozens of successful films, most of them being screened and winning awards at the world's numerous festivals, big and small.
SANAD also offers year-round support and publicity for selected projects to help connect filmmakers to potential partners, funding opportunities and audiences.
