CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR THE 45th NAACP IMAGE AWARDS Awards show to air live on TV One

LOS ANGELES (Tuesday, October 15, 2013) – Submissions are now open for the 45th NAACP Image Awards nominations online at www.naacpimageawards.net, announced today by the Chairman of the NAACP Image Awards Committee, Leonard James III.  Submissions will close on Friday, November 15, at 5:00 PM (PT.)

Presented annually, the NAACP Image Awards is the nation’s premier event celebrating the outstanding achievements and performances of people of color in the arts as well as those individuals or groups who promote social justice.  There are 54 competitive categories in the fields of motion picture, television, recording and literature. There are also several honorary awards including the Chairman’s Award, The President’s Award, The Vanguard Award, and The Image Awards Hall of Fame. You can find a list of last year’s winners here.

The eligibility period for all projects is January 1, 2013, through December 31, 2013.  In addition, motion picture category projects (and individual achievements within it) must have been initially released and distributed in the U.S. with a minimum commercial theatrical run in Los Angeles or New York for seven (7) consecutive days.

“This year we have taken our submissions process fully online,” said Robin Harrison of the NAACP Hollywood Bureau.  “The new site uses an exciting and interactive dashboard, which will assist in keeping the user updated regarding any outstanding items and is designed to automatically notify them once their submission is complete.”

The NAACP Image Awards Nominating Committee and subcommittees will receive the online link to begin casting their votes on Monday, December 9th.  They have until Monday, December 30th to complete the process and the nominees will be announced on Wednesday, January 8, 2014.

The 45th NAACP Image Awards will air on the TV One network, following the announcement of a new multi-media five-year agreement.  Complete rules and regulations for the 45th NAACP Image Awards are posted at www.naacpimageawards.net.
