Samuel Anderson (The History Boys) joins Series 8 of Doctor Who, which introduces Peter Capaldi as the Doctor. Anderson has a recurring role as Danny Pink, a teacher at Coal Hill School where companion Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) also teaches.

On joining the show Anderson said, "[Doctor Who] is a quintessential part of British culture and I can't believe I'm part of it. It's an honour to be able to work alongside Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman and I can't wait to show people how my character becomes involved with such a fantastic duo!"

Cedric Yarbrough is set to co-star in Fox's new half hour Dead Boss, an adaptation of the BBC3 series.

The comedic mystery stars Jane Krakowski as Helen, a woman wrongfully convicted of murdering her boss and depending on her train wreck of a sister to prove her innocence.

It's a weird conspiracy of events that NBC is giving black actors so many opportunities these days, yet NBC programming is so void of any originality, much less creativity that it rises to the level of being as mediocre as its sister network Bravo. After the utter failings of "Ironside," and "Deception," "Sean Saves the World," and "The Michael J Fox Show," and the announcement/cancelation of a reimagining of "Murder She Wrote," with Octavia, I would be careful, as a black actor, about hitching my wagon to the peacock.

They're not, exactly, hitting it out of the ballpark these days, and, watch. This will be no different. How is this show any different from "Castle?" It really sounds rather hum drum.

What? The leads of Sean Saves the World and Michael J Fox Show were famous white men. Echo Kellum of Sean Saves the World was on Ben & Kate which was cancelled last season by FOX and has already booked another pilot that will, statistically either not get picked up or end up being cancelled later. Wendell Pierce of Michael J Fox Show had just been on Treme which was cancelled by HBO. Before Deception, Laz Alonzo had just had Breakout Kings cancelled by A&E. Blair Underwood has had shows cancelled by several networks and has been cast many times by NBC. There are still many actors of color still employed on NBC shows.

Your big conspiracy is that TV shows get cancelled. Kudos to NBC for their diverse hires.

Well I think that Laz is a great actor. I hope that this show last, because it will be great to see him on another weekly series. I will be tuning in. Laz do your thing.

Im happy for Laz Alonzo, but there is always something lacking in his performance. I can't really say what it is but the best role for him was Breakout Kings. Jumping the Broom was horrible. I wish him luck in finding better roles.

I agree, Breakout Kings was his best work to date. In hindsight, I realize he was doing an extended Denzel impersonation. Laz has leading man looks, but works best in an ensemble.
