Roger Ebert Names "Kinyarwanda" To His Top 11 Films of 2011 List

Roger Ebert named Alrick Brown's Kinyarwanda on his Top 11 Films of 2011 list, along with other choices such as Tree of Life, A Separation and Shame. Ebert said that Borwn's film shook him "deeply" and that it is a film of "great emotional impact."

Announced earlier today... the Sundance Institute's selection of the next 12 feature projects that will begin the journey through the Sundance Labs program (not that all of them will go through the entire program), beginning with its annual January Screenwriters Lab - an immersive, 5-day writers’ workshop at the Sundance Resort in Utah, that takes places just before the 2012 installment of the Sundance Film Festival begins.

Octavia Spencer To Be Honored at Palm Springs Film Fest with Breakthrough Performance Award

The 2012 Palm Springs International Film Festival, which runs January 5-16th , annouced earlier today that Octavia Spencer will be the recipient of the Breakthrough Performance Award at the Black Tie awards gala on Saturday, January 7 in the desert resort town east of Los Angeles. At the event, which will serve as an opportunity for awards campaigning, Spencer will join previous honorees George Clooney, Glenn Close, Michelle Williams and Michel Hazanavicius. In the past, the Breakthrough Performance honor has been awarded to the likes of Carey Mulligan, Marion Cotillard and Mariah Carey.
