Here's another look at the "Southern Apocalpytic Kids Adventure Comedy," as it's described, titled Beasts of the Southern Wild, directed by Benh Zeitlin, from a screenplay co-written by Lucy Alibar, based on her original play titled Juicy And Delicious (I love both titles).

Some bits and pieces of info worth sharing that I came across while reading THIS New York Times Sundance 2012 profile - specifically about veteran filmmakers like Spike Lee and Stephen Frears debuting their films at the festival, competiting with filmmakers much younger for eyeballs and distributors; putting them in a position that they don't often find themselves in.

Sheldon Candis' feature film debut, LUV, which stars Common and Michael Rainey Jr, will make its debut at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, in the dramatic competition section, and it's on my short list of films to see while I'm there, premiering at the mammoth Eccles Theater on Monday the 23rd.

Long-time Spike Lee editor (as well as director and producer in his own right) Sam Pollard's feature documentary for PBS, titled Slavery By Another Name, will make its debut at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, in the documentary competition section, and it's on my short list of films to see while I'm there, starting just over a week from today.

It's only a few weeks away before this year's Sundance Film Festival kicks off and it's just been announced actress Parker Posey will be hosting this year's awards ceremony on January 28.  Jury members were also revealed and Anthony Mackie along with director Dee Rees made the list among others.

In watching this teaser trailer for a new documentary titled Dimanche à Brazzaville (or Sunday In Brazzaville for English Speakers) I immediately thought of the "Swenkas" - the South African Zulu men who call themselves "Swenkas" and compete for cash and prizes in an event that's part fashion show, part choreography, and part moral code.
