The hilarious short story goes... In Sudan, it's taboo for a man to cook. As young Sudanese refugee, Alier puts it very plainly, “cooking, cleaning, washing the dishes, it’s the duty of your sister.” The women of Sudan don't allow their men into the kitchen because (amongst other reasons) they believe their penises might burn over the cooking fires.

Amongst last year's grantees were a handful of projects we've been following since then - Buddha of Africa (a working title), a South Africa/Malawi production, and  The Supreme Price - a USA/Nigeria production; there were 2 or 3 others as I recall.

Since Robert Johnson's RLJ Entertainment completed its acquisitions of Image Entertainment and Acorn Media, creating RLJ Entertainment Inc., I've received a steady stream of emails from the newly-formed comapny announcing the releases of new films to the home video (DVD, Blu-ray, VOD, digital) market; or, in this specific case, films that were released in other countries but never saw USA distribution.
