Iris Films, a non profit media company, that produces socially and culturally relevant content is behind an upcoming documentary titled Afro-Uruguay: Forward Together, that takes a look at what it describes as the little-known history and contemporary experience of "afrodescendientes" (people of African descent) in Uruguay.

I first profiled this sci-fi action/comedy film, and one of its stars, about 2 years ago; it's been a long journey for it, as the filmmakers have been working on it piece by piece, according to however much funding they had for each during each stage of the process. Such is the the way of indie filmmaking.

Jay-Z and Jeymes Samuel of the Bullitts are apparently scoring Baz Luhrmann's upcoming The Great Gatsby - according to a tweet from Samuel's himself, who promised that the score would be "too DOPE for words!"
