Good news for those in New York City who haven't been able to see it yet, since it opened at the IFC Center last weekend; it's apparently been doing very well, and has been extended for a second week (if it wasn't doing well, it would've had its 1-week run, today would've been its last day, and it would've moved on).

I'd say there are more than a few black filmmakers working consistently, and simultaneously within, and outside the studio system, that most of us (myself included) aren't aware of. There could be any number of reasons for that, which I won't go into here; but I'd say that Kim Bass falls under that category.

Another potential project for Lee Daniels' future slate; as we've already reported, over the last 2 to 3 years, since Precious, Daniels’ name has been attached to quite a few projects – Selma, Miss Saigon, Iced, Anna In The Tropics, The Butler, and, most recently, The Paperboy, which is in theaters, and not exactly lighting the box office on fire, or drawing lots of critical acclaim. It's Daniels in Shadowboxer mode - in retrograde.
