Adding to our last post on the cross-continental co-production that is the film adaptation of Half Of A Yellow Sun, I thought this revelation from a Variety profile of the film this morning was something to share: 80% of the film's production budget came from Nigerian investors.

Earlier this week, I attended a press screening of the recut version of Spike Lee's much-discussed and debated Red Hook Summer; and even though I saw it at the Sundance Film Festival in January, and reviewed it soon after, I plan to write a new review of the film, based on the new edit I saw this week.

Despite some criticism of her use of the online crowd-funding website to raise funds for her Moms Mabley documentary (especially in light of what I referred to in a previous post as "Kickstarter Fatigue"), Whoopi Goldberg has reached her campaign goal; she actually surpassed it, raising over $73,000, when her goal was to raise $65,000.
