Anyone who regularly watches the Turner Classic Movie cable channel (and if not, why aren't you?) knows that every week on a special night, they like to have some celebrity (usually an actor, director, film critic or writer) as the guest programmer, to choose and discuss the films for that evening's broadcast.

With all the updates to the Fall TV season and the long reviews of summertime shows, my recent columns have all been comprised mostly of lists.  This week I change things up a bit by delving into a repeated topic of discussion in this S&A feature: What is Black television? Should Black television shows be defined the same as Black movies?  And why aren’t there more shows by Black creators with a mostly Black cast on the air, obviously excluding S&A’s favorite creator, who we’ll just call T.P.

Well... it actually went live last night, Wednesday, June 27th at 8PM, with inaugural distribution partners Comcast and Time Warner Cable, available in approximately seven million homes and in 16 of the top 25 African American markets including New York City, Atlanta, Chicago and Washington, DC.

It could just be that I've only now just started paying close attention, but it seems like Lifetime has been getting quite aggressive in the movie department - especially with regards to films that tell stories about black women.

With what will likely be a comment/joke that stirs up some controversy, aside... What's really funny about this video revelation is that no one seems to know who the actress is that was cast in the part. I first heard the news via Huffington Post, where I also saw the clip; but within their article, there's no mention of who the actress is.

In her continuing search for ratings for her OWN cable channel, Oprah Winfrey has confirmed, (via her Twitter account) that she will be interviewing Rihanna in August for an upcoming episode of her show Oprah's Next Chapter.
