The Akils New BET Drama Series "Single Black Female" Gets A Title Change (Thank Goodness For That)

You'll recall that in my post annoucing the new series, I recommended (and continued to recommend in successive posts) that they change the title of the series to something more interesting than just Single Black Female. Sometimes keeping things simple is a good idea, but that initial title didn't work for me for a number of reasons.

In what must be a new land-speed record, Burger King has pulled their new spot with Mary J. Blige from the internet and television, after endless complaints hit the media and the internet, calling it everything from "cooning," to something "that has taken black people back 60 years."

VH1 has greenlighted - not what you'd expect; no, not another reality TV series with black women at the center. The network is actually *gasp* going the original scripted route, ordering a pilot for a new "professional basketball dancers" drama called Bounce.

BET continues its push towards more original scripted series with Young Man On Campus, a comedy pilot starring Jacob Latimore as a 15-year-old college prodigy and, as the title states, the youngest man on a college campus, who shares a dorm room with his basketball star cousin Marco.

This might be the first time I've watched Oprah Winfrey speak openly about the difficulties she'd experienced running her new network OWN. It's been primarily printed words until now (unless I just haven't been paying attention, which is certainly possible).
