Charles Parnell (Pariah) and Christina Elmore, will join Michaela McManus, Travis Van Winkle, and Sam Spruell to co-star in Michael Bay's TNT action drama pilot The Last Ship, which is based on a 1988 post-apocalyptic fiction novel of the same name by William Brinkley.
Jonathan Mostow will direct the pilot, from a script penned by Hank Steinberg and Steven Kane.
The Last Ship tells the story of a fictional USA Navy guided missile destroyer, the USS Nathan James, on patrol in the Barents Sea (located north of Norway and Russia) during a brief, full-scale nuclear war between the USA and the then Soviet Union. The novel details the ship's ensuing search for a new home for her crew.
So, essentially, much of the world's population is destroyed, and they are some of the only survivors left.
Parnell will play a character named Hugh Jeter, Command Master Chief aboard the USS Nathan James. And Elmore will play Lt. Alisha Granderson, co-steerer of the ship.
Since playing Alike's (Adepero Oduye's) father in Dee Rees' Pariah, Parnell has assumed roles in various TV series like Fringe, NCIS and The Mentalist, to name a few.
Christina Elmore, however, I couldn't find any information on. Her IMDB page is blank, and a Google search didn't reveal much. She has a website, but it doesn't show her resume. Maybe she'll read this and I'll get an email filling in the blanks. Or maybe you guys can assist...

Christina majored in African American Studies at Harvard (along with something else, I think English.) She is also an extremely talented singer and sang with Kuumba during her time there. I am so proud of you, Little C!!!! Go get 'em, girl!

Christina Elmore is a recent graduate of the MFA program at American Conservatory Theater. While here in San Francisco, Christina performed in a wide variety of roles, including classical to contemporary. We are so proud of her success and look forward to seeing her on stage and screen in years to come.
