Confirmed by The Rock himself, via his Twitter account, just minutes ago, Dwayne Johnson is no longer "in talks" and has officially signed on to join G.I. Joe 2, aka GI Joe: Cobra Strikes, playing a character named Roadblock.

Who is Roadblock you ask? For the uninitiated... per Wikipedia, he is one of the most prominent African-Americans in the series, whose primary duty is as a heavy machine gunner; he's also a cook, and cousin to Heavy Duty, who was played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje in the first GI Joe movie in 2009.

So, I suppose that means Heavy Duty won't be in the sequel? Can't have too many "colored" folks in one GI Joe movie, right?

The film will be directed in 3D, by the way.

"Can’t have too many “colored” folks in one GI Joe movie, right?" was that suppose to by funny??? I take offense to remarks like that only the internet lets this foolishness go on.

    Ah, 3-D, blech.

But glad to hear of this casting as well.

I liked G.I.Joe more than I ever expected I would.

Just hope they are a little tighter with the characters (and stay true). Let the villains be villains with little-to-no-gray area...
