We already told you at least a week or 2 ago that Taye Diggs, Trey SongzJill ScottJ Cole and Djimon Hounsou were all in for parts in playwright/director David E. Talbert's rom-com, Baggage Claim, for Fox Searchlight, based on his best-selling debut novel about a flight attendant with thirty days and thirty thousand miles to find a husband.

That list of actors will be joining those who were cast much earlier - Paula PattonDerek Luke, and Octavia Spencer - as cast members, with Patton playing our husband-seeking flight attendant.

Now the film has cast its first non-black actor, Adam Brody, who'll play a flamboyant flight attendant who works alongside Patton and Octavia Spencer. He devises a plan to help Patton's character get engaged before Christmas, and works with a team of airport personnel to make sure she crosses paths with several ex-boyfriends who are traveling during the course of the story.

As for the others, Songz will play a big-time record producer, and Diggs will play a man with his eyes set on running for Congress, who wants a trophy wife.

Here's the synopsis for Baggage Claim:

Pledging to keep herself from being the oldest and the only woman in her entire family never to wed, Montana embarks on a thirty-day, thirty-thousand-mile expedition to charm a potential suitor into becoming her fiancé. Whom will she choose? Damon Diesel, a P. Diddy wannabe; Reverend Curtis P. Merewether, pastor of Greater House of Deliverance, Tabernacle of Praise, Worship, and Miracles; pompous attorney-turned-councilman Langston Jefferson Battle III; or Quinton Jamison, a multimillionaire who's twenty years her senior?

The project is scheduled to begin principal photography this month.

    You are right. I am never satisfied by ish. I don't care if it stars black, white, yellow, green, etc. I read the book. It is mediocre. So no. I don't have faith that a mediocre book starring good, mediocre and pure trash like Trey Songz will turn out to be decent.

    And if you don't know what quality is, what it looks like and what it doesn't look like, there is no use in me attempting to explain it to you. You are already too far gone.

    There was a post about Lee Daniels movies and asking the question, What he owes blacks? I can tell you right now, not a Damn thing. Never satisfied, never satisfied, never satisfied. Love Taye, Paula and Octavia all wonderful actors, keep getting projects and don't worry, you don't owe black people anything.

    Dang, I love Adam Brody, but this movie still stars Paula Patton & Octavia Spencer, so it's a hell no.

    Adding j cole, Jill Scott, trey songs , and Derek Luke is turning me off from seeing this film.

    This film is becoming more bottom of the barrel filth with every new update. Throwing a bunch of overrated, non talented black folks together to bring a mediocre book to life is not my cup of tea. I'm sure the "black love" "we must support all things black" "i love to see me on screen" folks will see this in droves but i will pass. My time and money supports quality not crap, which this surely will be.

    @Sara
    Quality like what?

  • D.C. Kirkwood | October 5, 2012 3:43 PM

    Amen!! My sentiments exactly. I didn't go to see Think Like A Man and I won't be paying to see this either.
