Cuba Gooding Jr will be heading to the lovely Gold Coast in Australia, next month, to begin production on a mystery/thriller feature film titled Deception, for Village Roadshow.

The $2 million film will be directed by filmmaker Brian Trenchard-Smith, one of Quentin Tarantino's favorite Australian directors, known for his contributions to the action movie genre during the 1970s and '80s in Australia. He is said to be currently working on a new Cinemax comedy series titled Chemistry.

I really couldn't find any details on what Deception is about, so I don't have anything to share on that front. This will have to do until we know more. Though, given Cuba Gooding's recent track record, I'm betting this will be another straight-to-DVD release.

You guys are commenting on Cuba Gooding jr's recent flicks as if he had ultimately say in the matter. His options were, "make lower budget movies...or don't work." Hollywood isn't hiring him. If you're not Will Smith, Denzel or Eddie Murphy or Martin Lawrence Hollywood doesn't think you, as a black actor, can OPEN a movie, and thus they aren't paying $50M to make that movie. But what Cuba is doing, just like Ice T, is giving non-hollywood filmmakers a chance. Put Cuba in you movie and you'll get funding. Put Cuba in your movie and you'll get distribution. You might not get theatrical here in the States, but if all you are focused on is the US you've already missed the boat.

I think Cuba is just happy making these b grade movies and couldn't care less that one talented actor has fallen so far down, probably still making an awful lot of money.

With a plain jane title like "Deception" that has been used probably numerous times before, the movie deserves to go straight to DVD.

At this rate Cuba is gonna have to do what he dreads....look for work in TV. Red Tails would have to be a surprise hit for his movie career to be salvaged at this point.

Hmm...another straight- to-DVD hawt mess flick starring Cuba Gooding Jr. Oh boy oh boy this man needs to work closely with a great screenwriter and work on a project that can get him out of DVD land.
