"The House I Live In"

From acclaimed director Eugene Jarecki, and executive producers Danny Glover, John Legend and Russell Simmons come the riveting new documentary, The House I Live In.

Filmed in more than twenty states, the film tells the stories of individuals at all levels of America’s so-called "War on Drugs," looking at this war from several key POVs.

From the dealer, to the narcotics officer, the inmate, to the federal judge, the film offers a penetrating look inside America’s criminal justice system, revealing the profound human rights implications of U.S. drug policy.

It sounds almost like Traffic, the documentary version.

The feature doc (4 years in the making) premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, where it reportedly caused quite a stir, polarizing audiences, en route to winnng the Grand Jury Prize in its category, and continued to play the international film festival circuit.

It's scheduled to debut on PBS' Independent Lens series this season, but no specific dates yet.

However, I only just learned that it opened in a limited number of theaters (its widest release thus far has been 8 theaters) 2 weeks ago - on October 5th - mostly theaters in NYC and LA.

But you're encouraged to visit the film's website HERE to find out if it's coming to your neck of the woods. You can also host a screening of the film. All the info can be found at the link.

I'm not surprised that this film caused controversy and polarizing views. Many have been saying this for a long time but the truth shall be brought to light. I'm looking forward to watching this Doc; hope it exposes the institutionalized sanctions that continues to oppress certain "individuals" because certain "people" don't know what to do with them.
