2012 is going to be a big one for David Oyelowo! Good for him! Dude's got skillz!

4 films he has starring roles in are set for 2012 release dates, scattered throughout the year - Red Tails, Ava DuVernay's Middle Of Nowhere, Lee Daniels' The Paperboy and One Shot opposite Tom Cruise

Make that 5 films now (although it's not a starring role), as he's reportedly joined the cast of Steven Spielberg’s Abraham Lincoln biopic, which is expected to be in theaters in December 2012. And this baby has Oscar written all over it, with a cast that already includes Daniel Day-Lewis as the titular Lincoln, with Tommy Lee Jones, Sally Fields, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, David Strathairn, and several others.

Oyelowo will play the role of a cavalryman... nothing more specific than that, which could mean any number of things. Countless black cavalrymen fought countless battles in Lincoln's time.

One thing we can be sure he won't be doing is hunting vampires with Lincoln ;)

Stay tuned...

Don't want to see anything about racist Lincoln.

"2012 is going to be a big one for David Oyelowo"? I guess in a way. But this isn't some Jessica Chastain type of big year we're talking about because Oyelowo is a supporting actor/supporting character in each of these films (including "96 Minutes" which made its festival debut in 2011 but most likely won't hit theaters until 2012). We've seen this before: a young black actor starts getting buzz as finally he gets various roles in high profile films. But instead of having those movies launch him into a lead actor, the actor ends up getting more and more supporting parts. For all we know Oyelowo may end up getting stuck in the Anthony Mackie--Supporting-Actor-Hell. Oyelowo is a gifted actor but wake me up when he is THE LEAD in a major motion Hollywood film.

He's another underrated actor. I first saw him in the HBO mini series 5 Days then saw him in The #1 Ladies Detective Agency w/ Jill Scott.

When i first noticed David, it was a movie called Shoot The Messenger. He had such range as actor, that I knew other would start to take notice of him. All the best to him!

Interesting. Black horse soldiers from the Civil War have gotten no screentime.
