A film based on the late rapper/actor's life is still in Limbo (Antoine Fuqua was to direct it, and even began the casting process 2 springs ago, but nothing came from that, and Fuqua left the project; John Singleton then was said to have taken over for Fuqua, but then he left the project as well).

Showbiz411 is reporting exclusively that Tonya Lewis Lee, wife of director Spike Lee, will be putting her producer hat on to develop a film adaptation of a historical fiction novel called The Watsons Go to Birmingham, and she's tapped Kenny Leon (primarily a stage director, although he directed Lifetime's Steel Magnolias remake) to direct.

Lately, announcements of new Broadway shows centered on stories about black people, are usually accompanied with the words "directed by Kenny Leon," who seems to have emerged as the go-to black director for black shows on Broadway.
