Donald Sterling's Confidante V. Stiviano Speaks To Barbara Walters: "He's Not a Racist" (Video)

Via the S&A Twitter account earlier in the week, I teased that talk-show hosts, news anchors and other journalists are likely all stumping over themselves to be first to get an exclusive interview with now-banned (and fined) Los Angeles Clippers owner, Donald Sterling. I went further to say that Oprah Winfrey would probably snag him first, if only because she's Oprah Winfrey, and she typically gets who/what she wants. I imagined Sterling seated opposite the compassionate Queen of all media, crying his eyes out, begging for forgiveness (because everybody cries when interviewed by Oprah; it's probably in whatever written agreement guests on her show are asked to sign, at this point).

But Barbara Walters got to him first. Well, actually, she got to Sterling’s confidante V. Stiviano. As Walters explains in the video below, the interview was initially supposed to include Sterling as well. In fact, as she states, he agreed to it. But, maybe not-so surprisingly, backed out, leaving Ms Stiviano to face Walters' solo.

So, the "who will interview Donald Sterling first" sweepstakes is still very much in play. And I'm sure many with the reach, have been working to book that conversation, which will surely be a ratings hit for whatever network airs it.

In the meantime, watch Walters' interview with V. Stiviano below, during which the veteran broadcast journalist asks whether Stiviano thinks the embattled NBA basketball owner should apologize for his racist remarks, whether she thought he would actually go through with a public apology, whether she's been romantically involved with Sterling, and more...

NOTE: The interview is split into 2 parts, so when the first 10 minutes comes to an end, it's not done. There'll be a commercial, and then the program will continue.

Also, as you watch, ask yourself whether it seems like she's being fed her answers, possibly via an earpiece.
