No it has nothing to do with A Tribe Called Quest's "Bonita Applebum" song :).

Tracie Thoms is slated to co-star in the CBS film pilot Applebaum, directed by Chris Columbus (Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief), and written by Ayelet Walman. Applebaum is based on Waldman's Mommy Track Mysteries series of books.

The pilot will star Rachelle Lefevre as Juliet Applebaum, a public defender who opts to become a stay-at-home mom and pursue a career as a private investigator to spice up her life.

Thoms will play Kat, Juliet's loyal best friend who is a former doctor and a loving mother.

Thoms co-starred in the Alicia Keys' stage production Stick Fly, directed by Kenny Leon.

Thoms can be seen next on the big screen in a small role in the sci-fi action flick Looper, which stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis and Emily Blunt. Looper will hit theaters September 28, 2012
