Eddie Murphy Says He's Writing An All-Black Cast Alien Abduction Comedy

Lots of Eddie Murphy items lately it seems, from the 2012 Oscar host announcement, to the upcoming release of Tower Heist , getting over his SNL grudge, and turning Beverly Hills Cop into a TV series; did I miss anything? And now this quote from Eddie:

“I still want to do something like that... I have this idea called ‘Jamal and Tyrell and Omar and Brick and Michael’s Wack-Ass Weekend‘ about this group of guys who get abducted by aliens on the way to the fights. I’m writing that now.”

In case you haven't already heard, Tower Heist was originally supposed to have an all-black cast, with the likes of Eddie, Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Tracy Morgan and Martin Lawrence; so when Murphy says, "I still want to do something like that," he's referring to a teaming up of all the black comedians I just mentioned in an all-black cast comedy.

Now... I don't know what Eddie's disposition was when he reportedly said this in the Rolling Stone interview (the new print version) that the quote was lifted from, and which is now spreading rapidly across the web. Was he being serious, or just joshing... especially with that title (Jamal and Tyrell and Omar and Brick and Michael’s Wack-Ass Weekend)?

*Shrug* We'll see.

And now, Eddie reacts to the announcement that Rick Ross had a seizure:

    I just hope that he isn't talking shyt. Just taking an opportunity to talk, but there isn't anything to it. Like the other poster said, we are dying out here.

    If that Oscar gig tanks, he'll fold back into nonentity and it'll be just talk. I hope not, but just saying what's in my gut. I'd like to see how Tower Heist does, too. Whether it is his serious comeback with a few weeks of success, or just a thing.

    @illthoughts, seriously though!!!

    It's amazing just how much love Eddie Murphy still has. My parents LOVED his stuff. I grew up and I LOVE his stuff.

    We're dying out here, Eddie! Make it happen!

    It would be damn fantastic if the old Coming to America, Boomerang Eddie Murphy would return. He has the money and reputation to give blacks what we've been missing in theaters.
