This week Disney/ABC Television group and the WGA announced the new slate of writers chosen for their 2012 TV writing program, and we noticed a familiar face among the group.

Eric Haywood, who was mentioned on this site just last week for his forthcoming independent film Four of Hearts, joins the exclusive group of eight writers chosen from roughly 1,100 submissions this year.

The other writers selected for the program include Erinne Dobson (Orleans, Mass.), Cindy Fang (Fremont, Calif.), Shannon Fopeano (Orleans, Mass.), Jason George (Memphis), Ryan Maldonado (Miami), Raamla Mohamed (Los Angeles) and Aaron Serna (McAllen, Texas).

The program will look to staff all the writers on ABC/Disney shows during the 2012 season, and also provides ongoing mentorship and professional development.

Congratulations and best of luck to this year's writers.

Unfortunately, that never happens. The staffing part. Truly dismal placement rates with all the diversity programs. Maybe one or two a year.

Sorry, Cynic. You're wrong. The ABC/Disney Fellowship has a very good staffing rate. I was a fellow and was staffed. I know many other TV writers who came out of the program and were also staffed. So congrats to you all!
