Everybody's Out Of 'American Idol'

American Idol

Randy is out. Say bye-bye to Nicki. Mariah take a hike. And that country dude, whatever his name is, get lost. They've all been fired from American Idol.

At least that's according to The Wrap, The New York Daily News and other sources.

Faced with declining ratings, which dropped this season overall by 25% from last season, and getting beaten by competitors such as NBC's The Voice, Fox has decided to restart American Idol from scratch.

According to reports, the network has decided not to renew the contracts of all the judges at the show, including even Randy Jackson, who's been with the show since the very beginning.

On top of that Fox reportedly will also dump long time AI executive producer Nigel Lythgoe, with the aim of finding some replacement with fresh ideas to reinvigorate the show.

The only person who's obviously safe and will stay on is Ryan Seacrest, who's either Satan Incarnate (which I've always believed) or has some incriminating pictures of Fox executives.

The fundamental problem with this show is the fact that many of the winners have had less successful careers than people who were voted off. Taylor Hicks was a winner and he's headlining at the I-10 Pork Palace and signing CDs at the Wal-Mart in Light My Fart, Arkansas. Jennifer Hudson wasn't a finalist. We've all seen how that's turned out. Chris Daughtry wasn't even close to being a finalist. He's sold something like 10 million records. This is less a problem with the judges than it is with the tone-deaf audience that's doing the voting.

Bring Ms. Patti on. I would literally stop EVERYTHING I'm doing in LIFE if SHE were one of the judges.

Let me see if I can do this justice, work with me.

In choosing a home or a business, I am sure we've all heard the words location-location-location. Well, in the entertainment field it's all about personality-personality-personalities. Talent helps, but whether one is a judge or a constant, personalities shine through. But with all things in life, the shine fades and/or takes it's natural course.

As Sergio mentioned in another post, American Idol has been Fox's cash cow while judges come and go. And, who's face in on the million dollar bill? No... good guess, but it's not Sergio's, he's just a po' ol' gossip hound. But seriously, I doubt their declining numbers can be attributed to any one judge... and the money train will keep on rolling. Besides, all the greatest programs eventually faded away - in time... nothing lasts forever. But wait, I believe Ryan Seacrest will be there until the janitor leaves and the doors are locked forever. He's "America"... if you know what I mean.

Not an AI fan, but you don't have to Clive Owen to figure out the declining ratings have nothing to do with the judges. I couldn't tell you who the last five winners were if you showed me their picture. AI's fickle finger of fate to determine real winning star power is shaky at best.

    I will not be watching!

Ryan Seacrest is actually the worst part of this show...That's hilarious. They continue to keep a host that no one at all can relate to.

  • Pepelives | May 9, 2013 5:22 PMReply

Can't say I'm upset about this.

  • ChgoSista | May 9, 2013 4:30 PMReply

"American Idol" ITSELF needs to be "out."

  • random | May 9, 2013 4:22 PMReply

Honestly, I believe Keith Urban is the best AI judge to date. He's always honest and gives constructive feedback that mostly focuses on their singing ability. Everyone else should be replaced.

  • BluTopaz | May 9, 2013 4:07 PMReply

Maybe they should take Aretha Franklin up on her offer to judge. I think a lot of people would tune in to see her and some other REAL singers who provide honest feedback.

Ree would be a riot! And if there's one thing we can say about Queen Ree is that she ain't afraid to keep it real. Mariah is too "cutesy," and for a singer with her kind of legendary chops, it's shocking that she rarely has anything constructive to say about the singing from the contestants. She worries too much about coming off as the stereotypical bitchy diva, so she tries to counter this perception by being extremely nice. It's too dull.

  • BluTopaz | May 9, 2013 10:34 PM

    @ Maliaka:

Uh, appears you have selective reading: "REAL singers who provide honest feedback" Mariah was widely criticized for being too sweet and nice to contestants; that bores a lot of people.

  • Maliaka | May 9, 2013 6:01 PM

Uhhh, Mariah is a REAL singer. The only non-real singer on the panel was Nicki Minaj this season.

  • Donella | May 9, 2013 4:29 PM

As long as those kids do not attempt to sing one of Aretha's songs in her face, they should be okay.
