Malcolm D. Lee's sequel to The Best Man, titled The Best Man Holiday, sees the return of the stars from the first film, including Taye Diggs, Nia Long, Morris Chestnut, Harold PerrineauTerrence Howard, Sanaa LathanMonica Calhoun, Melissa De Sousa and Regina Hall, all reprising their roles in a story that is set 15 years after the original.

The premise:

When the college friends finally reunite over the Christmas holidays, 15 years after the first film, they will discover just how easy it is for long-forgotten rivalries and romances to be ignited.

Universal Pictures has set the release date for the sequel for November 15, 2013, in what will be a crowded fall for black films.

But based on all the excitement over it, I'm going to guess that this is going to be a box office hit - certainly one of this year's highest-grossing black films. It may even cross the coveted $100 million mark that Think Like Man just missed. Read my thoughts on that possibility HERE if you missed it.

A new poster has surfaced and is embedded below:

This film is getting HUGE buzz on the street. Have you seen the audience response when the trailer is shown in theaters? The original is remembered almost as fondly as "Love Jones" by folks who were in their 20's when the original was released. The original has also gained quite a following during the interim on dvd and cable.

I just noticed that Melissa De Souza is not listen in the credits on the poster. What the hell?

Look, it's great that a brother is making a living...but you're going to have to point me to where all this "excitement" is (other than your blogs.)

  • Edwina | September 30, 2013 9:47 PM

Oh, the big buzz is there Emcee. Since Spring, at least. Facebook, Twitter, people are excited all over social media. Where have you been?

  • Akimbo | September 27, 2013 4:37 PM

I was wary, but hopeful, then I saw it, and now I'm excited. I'll be paying to see it again when it comes out.

  • Jules | September 27, 2013 12:46 PM

I'M EXCITED! Seriously though, the film is getting buzz.
