True, it's derivative, and there's nothing in it that you haven't seen before in your typical DEA-agent-vs-evil-drug-lord sort of thing. But it definitely was a fast-paced, slickly made and, at times, a very brutal film, with a couple of solid action sequences, includiing one stunningly choreographed shootout outside a strip mall.
I've thought one of the things that really hurt the film was its lousy, generic title, which meant nothing to audiences. The film was originally ttitled Diablo, but was changed by the studio before its release, for some inexplicable reason.
However if you're interested in seeing the film again, or for the first time, and as good as it can look, Warner Home Video is releasing the film on Blu-ray DVD on August 14th.

@ Sergio: you obviously don't watch a lot of movies if you think "A Man Apart" was good or better than most people made it out to be. I don't even know why indiewire.com has this as homepage worthy news. This website is becoming a hit-or-miss as days go by.
