It's not much, but here's a sneak peak at our gangsta Anthony Mackie in the L.A. set of The Gangster Squad, courtesy of Just Jared. It's the only pic which shows Mackie unfortunately, but click on the link to see all the others. The Ruben Fleischer-directed film about the LAPD's fight to keep East Coast Mafia types out of Los Angeles in the 1940s and 50s, also stars Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn, Emma Stone Michael Pena, Josh Broslin and others.

Mackie plays Lieutenant Harris, who is promoted to Sargeant and is in charge of fighting heroin in the black neighborhoods. The film is set to hit theaters October of 2012.

2012 will be a big year for him. I feel like I'm constantly seeing his name attached to a new project. I hope this is a meaty role because I really do enjoy seeing him in quality projects.

    A. MACKIE in anything is a joy to behold. I think he is the best of the crop of young, versatile men of color to hit the screen in a few years. And he seems to be just a cool guy as well. We need some of the others to adopt his work ethic, style, and diligence. We don't see him in the gossip pages or hear any negative news about him which is so very refreshing. Stay true to the course MR. MACKIE!!!
