First Run Features has announced that it has acquired acquired Chad Freidrich's excellent and compelling documentary The Pruitt-Igoe Myth: An Urban History for threatical distribution, VOD and DVD release starting in March 2012.

The film, which was screened this year at several film festivals including the Black Harvest Film Festival in Chicago this past summer, chronicles the sad history of the notoroius Pruitt Igoe housing project, built with great expectations in 1954, only to be imfamously blown up to rubble less the 20 years later in March 1972 as an abysmal failure of urban planning.
