You've got to give him credit. Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson keeps cranking them out one right after the other. Whether they're any good or not is something else altogether. However I have seen one of his previous films, Set Up, with Bruce Willis in an extended cameo, and, no surprise, it was pretty rank.

But as long as he keeps trying, he's bound to make a good one, and perhaps his latest film, Freelancers, will be that one; it comes out on DVD from Lionsgate Home Video on Aug. 21st.

It co-stars Forest Whitaker and a slumming Robert De Niro (maybe Fiddy had some incriminating pictures of him) and was directed by Dominican filmmaker Jessy Terrero. And if that name sounds vaguely familiar to you, it's because he also directed the notorious film Soul Plane of infamous glory.

The plot, which you've seen 100 times before, is about the son of a slain NYPD officer (Jackson) who joins up with father's former partner (Whitaker) and a team of  "rogue cops," whose boss is played by De Niro. Of course, you can pretty much guess where the plot goes from there.

Here's the trailer

His films continue to rate from bad to "meh," but... they don't make me feel ashamed of my race like any one of Citizen Coon's films. So, this particular hustle I can't knock.
