Written and directed by Ekwa Msangi-Omari (Weakness), the 12-minute film Taharuki ("Suspense") traveled through the festival circuit last year and is now available on Amazon. Taharuki is produced by screenwriter and S&A reader/contrubutor Kia Barbee (Elmhurst Entertainment), Inna Braude, Njeri Micheu & Monika Greenleaf.

Thanks to a comment left by S&A follower ScreenNation, I was reminded of  emerging British filmmaker Destiny Ekaragha and after some quick research, discovered her acclaimed short film Tight Jeans is now available online.

The short narrative feature Grace, which marks Salli Richardson-Whitfield's directorial debut, makes its premiere tomorrow Friday 2/10 at the Pan African Film Festival. Grace, about a white woman in an isolated cabin who confronts a black male stranger, is written by Richardson-Whitfield and Ava Duvernay.

I just learned that the below short film, made by writer Geoff LaTulippe - a short he made for WME's company retreat, starring comedian/action J.B. Smoove - helped Mr LaTulippe close his first directing job at Paramount - an untitled comedy ensemble based on his pitch.

I know it's almost 2012, and I know I'm late in discovering FUTURESTATES and the interesting films they have to offer. But I figure that if I haven't seen them, some of you S&A readers likely haven't seen them either. And unless I'm mistaken, director Annie J. Howell's Tia & Marco, which premiered in 2010 and features Susan Kelechi Watson (Third Watch, Blackout, NCIS) and Enrique Ochoa as its leads, wasn't featured here on S&A. If it was, forgive me, and just consider this a refresher post.
