About That Popular 'Black Films Don't Sell ...Geoffrey Fletcher's Directorial Debut "Violet & Daisy" Will Premiere At TIFF + 1st Look
Well... we have an answer for one of the films featured in my "what happened to these 2010 projects that haven't debuted yet?" post last week.
Oscar-winning Precious screenwriter Geoffrey Fletcher's directorial debut, Violet & Daisy will make its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next month! Glad to hear the news finally, after months of speculation.
The cast of the film includes Saoirse Ronan, Alexis Bledel, James Gandolfini, Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Danny Trejo in what has been described as a “Thelma and Louise meets Superbad meets Pulp Fiction” story.
Ronan and Bledel play a pair of teenage assassins lured into what is supposed to be just another quick and easy job, only to find complications as the man they’re supposed to kill is not who they expected.
Baptiste plays a character by the name of Number 1, an assassin.
We posted some stills and video clips from the film a few months ago, but were asked to take them down because the material wasn't supposed to be public yet. So, really, there hasn't been a lot of media on the flick.
It was shot last fall, and has been in post for awhile it seems. I don't believe it has a distributor yet, but that'll probably change in a month or two.
The TIFF website calls it a "brutal fable."
If I'm lucky, it'll play at the New York Film Festival in October and I'll see how brutal it is for myself.

This project is taking forever. Must be a year since it premiered at TIFF, so i hope it doesn't go direct to dvd.
