Details on her specific role have yet to be confirmed, and although it's not official, a few sources, including S&A reader DCM, who identified the actress, reveal that the relative unknown will indeed star as Solomon Northup's wife.
Naturally, I was curious to find out more about her. Looking over at her official site, Scott's career dates back to 1989 when she starred in the ABC sitcom The Robert Guillaume Show. Since, she delved into numerous shorts and TV projects including Days of Our Lives, House M.D., The Black Dawn, Grey's Anatomy, The Young and The Restless, Hollywood Girl, among others.
Scott's stage work, which began at the Atlanta's professional theater scene and highlighted due to her vocal abilities, includes shows like Little Shop of Horrors, The Wiz and a touring company of Dreamgirls. Interesting to note that Kelsey is also a screenwriter; she penned scripts for the Sony Pic thrillers Motives and Motives 2, which starred Vivica A. Fox, Shemar Moore and Brian White.
According to her site, Kelsey has been commissioned for a screen adaptation of the true story of former University student Kemba Smith. If you recall, Kemba Smith was involved with a drug dealer, who was one of the leaders of a $4 million crack cocaine ring. Smith, a present-day felon rights speaker, was sentenced to serve 27 years in jail before receiving clemecy by president Bill Clinton.
Interesting enough! We'll keep a close eye on Ms. Kelsey Scott and ensure we update you on her career moves.
