Gina Torres has joined her real-life husband Laurence Fishburne, in NBC's upcoming contemporary take on Hannibal, with characters from Thomas Harris’ Red Dragon novel.

And Torres will be playing... drumroll... Laurence Fishburne’s wife in the series.

Fishburne will play the pivotal role of Jack Crawford, the agent-in-charge at the Behavioral Science Unit of the FBI, who is tasked with tracking down a certain flesh-eating serial killer - a role played by Dennis Farina in ManhunterScott Glenn in The Silence of the Lambs and Harvey Keitel in Red Dragon

The project, written and exec-produced by Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller and slated to debut midseason, centers on the relationship between FBI agent Will Graham (played by Hugh Dancy) and his mentor Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen).

Fishburne's Crawford is described as a "tough cop who seems to have been born to hunt serial killers and lacking the type of empathy that informs the lives of both Will and Hannibal and knows he needs Will to be his bird-dog. His greatest mission is to stop sociopaths before they kill more -- even if that means sacrificing Will's psyche in the process."

Sounds like a juicy role for Mr Fishburne, on his return to TV after exiting CSI last year. And he'll have his real-life wife, Torres, joining him for the ride.

Love her on 'suits' @ LF has talent to spare ( that csi foray was a mistake. Can't believe Terrance Howard fell in the same trap).

However, im usually skeptical of real life couples doing this, so we'll see

I saw Gina Torres and Laurence Fishburne play torturers in an under-the-radar movie with Ryan Phillipe. I think they have a production company together called Cinnamon Gypsy, something like that. Good looking out for both of their careers.

I like both of them individually as actors, but I don't care to see real life couples whether married or dating on screen together. They did a couple of polls on this and alot of viewing audience dont care fore these type of match ups either. I hope this doesn't backfire. But with the scarcity of roles for some black actors I can see them wanting to keep the money in the family. She's definitely beautiful and has the talent but I wish they had of picked another actress. JMO

This could be good. Silence of the Lambs is the progenitor of all the procedural cop shows on TV here and around the world. It only makes sense to go back to the source.

As a hardcore Hannibal fan, I'm skeptical, but you have Larry with the misses in the mix and that is a actually a big plus if you are looking for the pure acting talent that him and his wife has. Now, as for Mads Mikkelsen portraying the infamous Hannibal Lector, I have yet to see anyone portray my favorite villain outside of Anthony Hopkins (minus Brian Cox in 'Manhunter,' which I've heard was stellar). So we'll see how Mikkelsen does, I think those are some pretty big shoes to feel. And if the creator is smart he'll do this series in the tradition of 'American Horror Story' or 'The Killing' (I'm hoping for the latter). But we'll see, I'm not one to pass judgement.
