Restless City

With your continued support, we just might see 3 successive weekends in which films with predominantly all-black starring casts make strong box office debuts - Woman Thou Art Loosed: On The 7th Day 2 weekends ago; Think Like A Man this past weekend; and Restless City this coming weekend.

Can we do it? Yes we can!

And just as the marketing campaigns for the already-released first films relied heavily on social media-based grassroots efforts to get the word out about each movie, AFFRM especially needs just as concerted an effort (if not more) to help ensure that Restless City (a more challenging film than the previous 2, I'd say for a number of reasons) does well this weekend.

As already announced, AFFRM will release Andrew Dosunmu's Restless City this Friday, April 27thin NYLA, and ATL, and then will expand to Philly, SeattleDetroitChicago and Washington DC on May 4.

And to contribute to the film's marketing effort, S&A is giving away 10 tickets to the Friday, April 27th (opening night) 7:55pm screening of the film at AMC Empire 25 in Times Square, New York City.

What do you have to do to win 1 of those tickets? Easy. Just send me an email with your full name in the body, and the words "Restless City Giveaway" in the subject heading.

You have until 11:59pm EST, on Wednesday, April 25th, to do so. And on Thursday morning, I'll randomly select 10 names from all the emails I receive, and announce those 10 winners on the site.

Like I said, easy, right?

And PLEASE be sure that you CAN attend the that specific screening day and time before entering the contest. I'd be really annoyed if you're picked as one of the winners and you don't show up to claim your ticket! That would suck!

By the way, I'll be there for that screening, as I'll be introducing/*hosting* it. So maybe I'll see you there.

Advanced tickets are also now available for purchase at the following theaters (and to all those who say Think Like A Man is not for them, I trust you'll be opening up your wallets to see Restless City then...):

AMC Empire 25, in New York City

Laemmle Monica 4-Plex in Los Angeles

The Rave Baldwin Hills also in Los Angeles

I hope this one does good business but I doubt it will. Negroes only want to be negroes. This is next level cinema. We won't come out for it like we do a bunch of women thinking like men. It is our fault we are in this predicament.

I saw this film at Sundance and will see it again on Friday night at the Empire. We have a group of 5 attending so far, so we will buy our own tickets with pleasure. I see people on Twitter sniping about Think Like A Man and Woman Thou Art Loosed Part Deux. This is when you show you're a real fan of cinema and not a bag of hot air. I hate people talking mess, but won't put their money where their mouths are. This movie is exquisite.
